David J. Gallacher, CFA, managing director, is a wealth advisor with William Blair Private Wealth Management, where he manages investment portfolios for his clients, working closely with them to craft long-term strategies tailored to their financial objectives. Before joining William Blair, David was a partner at C.J. Lawrence, where he was the lead portfolio manager of the firm’s international portfolios and served on the investment committee supporting the firm’s proprietary investment strategies. He previously served as a managing director at ISI Inc., where he expanded its private client business and international money management capabilities.

David began his career in financial planning at Aon Risk in the United Kingdom before joining Coutts & Co. As a portfolio advisor and lead portfolio manager, he led Coutts & Co.’s U.K. and European direct equity strategies. He was responsible for managing substantial assets for high-net-worth clients in the United States and Europe. Transferring to the United States in 2006, David launched Royal Bank of Scotland/Citizens N.A. global investment management platform for U.S. high-net-worth clients. He acted as the senior portfolio manager for the group’s core global and global ex-U.S. investment strategies.

David holds a B.A., cum laude, from Harvard University and studied accountancy at Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom. He is a CFA charter holder and has passed all levels of the Chartered Market Technicians program. He is committed to ongoing education in the field of investment management and financial planning. His end-to-end experience and understanding across the investment management spectrum ensures that clients are in safe hands from design to implementation of their investment strategies.

David enjoys an active family life by the ocean in California with his wife and twin boys. Outdoor adventure in the water or the mountains keep David fit and healthy. He is a supporter of A Walk on Water providing surf therapy to children and families with unique needs. A member of his local racquet club, David plays fun and competitive tennis with friends and family from around the L.A. area.
