About Steve

Steve Elkins has worked in the investment industry since 1967. He has been at William Blair since 1987 and became a partner of the firm in 1989. When Steve, with his history of investing in growth stocks, joined William Blair, Chicago’s premier growth firm, it was a match made in heaven.

Several factors contribute to Steve’s success in the business. First and foremost, his enthusiasm and passion for the markets translate into a relentless pursuit of stocks that he believes will make money for his clients over the long term. Second, his uncompromising integrity has earned the respect of his clients. Third, he has built his business largely on referrals, freeing him to focus his energy on the investment side of his business.

Steve has two grown daughters and two granddaughters. He is on the chairman’s council of the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, a local charity that grants scholarships to underprivileged youth, giving them the opportunity to attend private high school. He is also actively involved in his alma mater, the University of Illinois.
