Emerging Markets Debt Team
Hi, my name is Yvette Babb. I’m part of the William Blair emerging markets debt team. I’m here in Chicago today, where I participated in an event to speak about emerging markets and frontier in particular. Here are some of the takeaways from that session. One, EM is doing pretty good. Fundamentals are actually improving across an array of metrics, and credit ratings are improved on the back of that. Secondly, we feel that valuations are attractive, in particular when we think about the high yield and frontier market subcomponent of the EMD space. And thirdly, we’re seeing a number of markets making meaningful policy reforms and positive pivots, which are likely to further cement a decline in perceived risk and therefore continue to support improved valuations and spread compression in that subcomponent of our universe.
