Emerging Markets Debt Team
Greetings from Mumbai, India. During the past week, we met with different companies from the infrastructure, metals and mining, and renewable energy sectors. Many companies are still investing in capacity expansion, harnessing India’s impressive growth story. The renewable-energy-generation companies are now focusing on more complex projects like energy storage or wind/solar hybrids due to better profitability prospects in these sectors. During our trip in Mumbai and New Delhi, we saw a lot of infrastructure projects, including airport expansion, metro, roads, and bridges, shaping India’s future domestic economy. In the metals and mining sector, the companies are impacted by low steel prices due to very competitive Chinese imports.
