William Blair Investment Management portfolio manager Mark Thompson, who co-manages the firm’s small-cap growth strategy, was included in Barron’s, providing insights for its regular “Funds Quarterly” series.
Thompson discussed the current environment for small-cap strategies and investing in small-cap companies, many of which are in need of capital and other considerations to become profitable. These so-called “zombie companies” make up a significant portion of the industry’s benchmark, Thompson added.
