"We pledge to take action until justice just is"

In honor of Black History Month, William Blair is proud to pledge its support of the YWCA’s Until Justice Just Is campaign, an initiative to raise awareness of racial injustices and end racism in communities nationwide.

The YWCA, with a 160-year legacy of fighting for racial justice and empowering women, launched Until Justice Just Is to help educate communities, companies, and individuals on how to take steps towards ending racism. The campaign provides anti-racism discussion guides, equity training for workplaces, a learning library with toolkits on implicit bias, and other educational materials to encourage the public to take a stand for racial equality.

“The work YWCA does to eliminate racism and empower women directly aligns with William Blair’s values of inclusivity, integrity, and partnership,” said Paige LaCour, who leads the firm’s community engagement programs. “We look forward to this partnership with YWCA as we continue our inclusion and diversity work and create strength and equity among colleagues and our communities.”

Until Justice Just Is began last summer as civil unrest erupted and the nation grappled with social injustice. Since then, the initiative has raised more than a million dollars and William Blair—one of the founding sponsors—is among the 40 corporate members.

“It is encouraging to see so many companies going beyond making statements of solidarity to determine what action can be taken to address racial justice,” said Dorri McWhorter, CEO of YWCA Metropolitan Chicago. “They are working directly with us to look both inside their organizations and at community engagement opportunities.

“We believe that by engaging more and more individuals and companies in our mission we can create real system, institutional and individual-level change,” she added.
